Big River Taxidermy is located in Lansing, Iowa, in the bluff country of Northeast Iowa on the mighty Mississippi River, which has always been known as the sportsmans paradise.

Big River Taxidermy is owned and operated by Jeff Morris. Jeff is a master taxidermist and has been doing taxidermy since he was a child. He mounted his first animal in the early 70's. He learned a little from other taxidermists but by going to competitions is pretty much self-taught.

Jeff did taxidermy in Waterloo, Iowa on a part-time basis for many years before moving to Lansing. In 1997 Big River Taxidermy was created and is still going strong. In 2008, we moved the studio to our home in the country. We felt that it was a better place to have a taxidermy studio.

Jeff has intensely studied the whitetail deer and has a live study pen.

Big River is a reputable, full time, full service taxidermy studio. We take pride in the highest level of craftsmanship and creativity in each and every trophy mount. We are not the cheapest, but our realistic and anatomically correct mounts are among the best in the country.

Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality mount you can find anywhere. If you want the finest piece of wildlife art your money can buy, we are the studio for you!

Jeff has won numerous awards and several taxdermy competitions in the whitetail and gamehead categories at the professional and masters levels. He has competed in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and at the World Taxidermy Competitions. When competing he spends in excess of 50 to 100 plus hours on a competition mount. He has won many, many 1st places in Masters Division, Several Best of Categories in the whitetail category in the Masters division, several Best of categories in gameheads in the Masters Division.

Jeff also judges taxidermy competitions as a whitetail judge.

Jeff also has been teaching the art of taxidermy since 1998. He has whitetail deer, game head and life size classes available from a 1 day to 1 or more week class. You can be a beginner or may just want to refine your skills. References are available upon request.
